Tehran, 3 February 2026 (dpa/MIA) - The US military has shot down an Iranian surveillance drone near the country's southern coast, Sabreen News reported on Tuesday.
Another drone from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is already on its way to monitor a US aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea, the news outlet reported online.
US news portal Axios had earlier reported that an F-35 fighter jet had shot down an Iranian drone, believed to be a Shahed-139 surveillance drone, which the Iranian military often uses in border regions.
Recently, tensions between the United States and the Iranian leadership have significantly increased.
US President Donald Trump deployed the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln along with its accompanying fleet to the region.
On Friday, government representatives from Tehran and Washington are expected to meet for new negotiations.
