Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport achieves Level 2 of Airport Carbon Accreditation

Skopje, 5 February 2026 (TAV/MIA) - Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, operated by TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports and a member of the ADP Group, has achieved Level 2 Airport Carbon Accreditation.

Ohrid Airport received this recognition for success from Airport Council International (ACI) within their global Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program because of the activities undertaken in the process of reducing carbon emissions within the airport's operations in the wider environment.

"Achieving Level 2 Airport Carbon Accreditation represents official recognition that Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport systematically measures, analyzes and actively works to reduce its carbon emissions. This accreditation confirms our commitment as TAV Macedonia to international sustainability standards and sends a clear message that environmental protection is a strategic priority in the operations of the airports we operate. Through such concrete steps, we continue to contribute to a more responsible development of aviation and to long-term benefits for the community and future generations," said Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.

The Level 2 ACA-accreditation for Ohrid Airport directly demonstrates that the airport not only understands its carbon footprint but has also implemented effective strategies for active reduction.

This means that Ohrid Airport has established clear and measurable targets for reducing both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which include emissions from on-site energy use, heating, cooling, and airport-owned vehicles.

Key initiatives contributing to achieving this level are - fleet transition, increasing the share of battery-powered or hybrid ground support equipment, optimizing energy consumption, renewable energy adoption and investment in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, waste management improvements, water-use efficiency programs, staff training and awareness initiatives to embed sustainability into daily operations, establishment of a Sustainability Committee to oversee and manage environmental risks and ensure that carbon reduction remains a strategic priority.

Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only institutionally endorsed, global carbon management certification program for airports, that helps them manage and reduce their carbon emissions in accordance with international standards. It independently assesses and recognizes the efforts of airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions through 7 levels of certification: ‘Level 1’, ‘Level 2’, ‘Level 3’, ‘Level 3+’, ‘Level 4’, ‘Level 4+’ and ‘Level 5’.

Airports Council International (ACI) is a global trade organization representing airports worldwide and works to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability in aviation.
