Mucunski: Strategic partnership agreement with Croatia expected soon

Skopje, 27 February 2026 (MIA) – We expect a strategic partnership agreement with Croatia to be signed soon, similar to those with the United Kingdom and Hungary, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski announced on Friday.
Speaking on Kanal 5 TV, in the context of the visit of the Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Mucunski referred to bilateral relations with Croatia, pointed out the existing strategic agreements with the United Kingdom and Hungary, as well as the announcement of a new strategic partnership agreement with Croatia.
“We have announced a strategic partnership agreement with Croatia, which both of us presented at the joint press conference. We are talking about a bilateral agreement between the two states, similar to those we have with Hungary and the United Kingdom,” Mucunski said.
Mucunski said that talks are currently under way to finalize the process of establishing a strategic partnership between the two countries, which will cover several areas, including the economy, trade, security, and energy. He described Croatia as a “mentor in the country’s EU integration process,” stressing its political support and technical assistance.
Regarding the strategic partnership with the United Kingdom, the minister said that, according to information from the competent institutions, active work is under way on the implementation of the high-speed rail project, as well as on projects related to the public healthcare system.
Referring to the agreement with Hungary, Mucunski underscored that a number of projects are being implemented through this strategic partnership, particularly in infrastructure, with the agreement also serving as an important tool for improving public transport.
