Mickoski: Country among top 5 in Europe in terms of GDP growth at the end of 2025, was last during SDSM's rule
- The good news for the Macedonian economy and citizens is that we are growing, we finished 2025 among the first five in Europe, and these are the facts, immediately behind Ireland, Malta, Cyprus, and together with Poland. These are Eurostat figures. The same was the case in 2024 as well. Six, seven years ago we were at the bottom of the region, now we are leaders in the region and among the top five in Europe based on the percentage of growth of our gross domestic product, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told TV Ora24 in an interview late on Thursday.
Skopje, 13 March 2026 (MIA) - The good news for the Macedonian economy and citizens is that we are growing, we finished 2025 among the first five in Europe, and these are the facts, immediately behind Ireland, Malta, Cyprus, and together with Poland.
Mickoski said the first two months of 2026 have seen double-digit growth in the percentage of budget revenue.
“This shows the economy is performing well. Value‑added tax is being paid, the informal economy has shrunk, and both imports and domestic trade are generating higher revenue. Corporate profit tax compared to last year confirms that companies are working and making gains. Contributions have increased, meaning employees’ incomes have risen by 12 to 13 percent. So, the start of the year promises an excellent economic outlook,” Mickoski said, adding that all of this depends on how long the situation in the Middle East lasts and what impact it has on energy and the global economy.
