Bitola, 29 November 2025 (MIA) - Australian Ambassador Peter Truswell and Bitola Mayor Toni Konjanovski promoted Saturday a mural created by Australian artist Fintan Magee as part of the Australian Embassy’s activities marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“This project is the work of one of the best mural artists in Australia. The mural in Bitola presents various symbols characteristic for Macedonia and for Australia and it reflects the relations between the two countries,” Ambassador Truswell said. 

Mayor Toni Konjanovski said in addition to being a confirmation of the friendship between the two countries, the mural also serves to beautify the city.

“This mural represents the friendship and strong ties between Macedonia and Australia. As is well known, we have a large diaspora in Australia that is increasingly returning to the homeland, and that is a good thing. We supported this project because it beautifies the city,” Konjanovski stressed.

The creator of the mural, Fintan Magee, told journalists he has worked on murals in India, Germany, Iceland, Austria, the US, while noting that with the Bitola mural he wanted to present a story that connects the two countries.

“The most significant Macedonian and Australian flowers are depicted on the mural, along with national objects, and I will also paint the famous Sydney Opera House,” Magee said.
