Washington, 11 May 2026 (dpa/MIA) – President Donald Trump has blasted Iran’s response to a US proposal aimed at ending the war as “totally unacceptable.”

“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform on Sunday. 

He did not provide further details about the proposal.

Hours earlier, Trump had also issued a warning to Tehran in a separate post, saying: “They will be laughing no longer!"

Iran had previously submitted its response to the US proposal to Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator, according to the state news agency IRNA. 

State broadcaster IRIB reported that the Iranian draft focuses on ending hostilities on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon, as well as ensuring the security of maritime shipping.

Iran’s government has said over the past week that it was reviewing a US proposal consisting of a 14-point framework. The plan is intended to establish the basis for an initial 30-day period of negotiations aimed at ending the war.

According to media reports, the discussions also include a possible easing of US sanctions and arrangements concerning the future of the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal is also said to lay the groundwork for negotiations over Iran’s controversial nuclear programme.
