SEC: Today’s voting proceeding smoothly, complaints reviewed, observers confirmed
- The State Election Commission (SEC) reported that Saturday’s voting of sick and infirm persons and inmates is proceeding smoothly, with no reported difficulties, problems, or complaints.
Skopje, 1 November 2025 (MIA) - The State Election Commission (SEC) reported that Saturday’s voting of sick and infirm persons and inmates is proceeding smoothly, with no reported difficulties, problems, or complaints.
“Voting is proceeding as planned and started on time. We’ve had no problems with election materials or election bodies, and there have been no remarks, complaints, or objections. Authorized SEC representatives visited several municipal election commissions earlier today,” SEC head Boris Kondarko stated at the continuation of the 151st session.
Kondarko added that ballots cast today will not be counted separately; they will be sealed and included in tomorrow’s voting, after which they will be published as part of the overall results. He also announced an additional statement on today’s turnout after the voting concludes.
As part of the continuation of its 151st session, the State Election Commission examined several appeals regarding voting rights. Four appeals were upheld, recognizing the right to vote for applicants not recorded in the voter lists, as they fulfill the legal criteria. Three appeals were dismissed as unfounded because the individuals were already registered or do not reside in the country.
The SEC confirmed that 1,622 observers have been accredited to monitor the election process, including 957 domestic, 651 international, and 14 foreign journalists.
According to the data, 4,826 sick or infirm citizens, 1,256 people in 14 correctional facilities, and 214 residents of 13 non-family facilities are voting on Saturday.
Voters will elect mayors in 32 municipalities and the City of Skopje, and a re-vote for municipal councillors will be organized in three polling stations in the Municipality of Shuto Orizari.
A total of 1,013,375 people are eligible to cast their votes in the local election runoff set to take place on Sunday - November 2.
