Skopje, 1 April 2025 (MIA) - At a session on Tuesday the Government adopted a report on procurement of 120 eco-friendly buses, of which 80 are urgently required for renewal of Skopje's Public Transport Enterprise (JSP) fleet and improvement of public transport, while the remaining 40 will be distributed according to economic rationale and the real needs of each of the local self-government units. 

"The Government reviewed and adopted a report from the Ministry of Transport regarding letters of interest submitted by local self-government units on the need to procure eco-friendly buses for public transport. The funds provided within the budget of the Ministry of Transport for this purpose include procurement of 120 eco-friendly buses, of which 80 are urgently required for the renewal of the JSP Skopje fleet and the improvement of public transport, and the remaining 40 will be distributed according to economic rationale and the real needs of each of the local self-government units," the Government said in a press release. 

The procurement of eco-friendly buses for public transport, the Government adds, will contribute to improving the quality of services for citizens, reducing air pollution in municipalities, as well as sustainable development and environmental protection.
