Skopje, 21 December 2024 (MIA) - The Turkish community is a bright thread in our homeland’s rich tapestry, and it ennobles the mosaic of coexistence, contributing to mutual understanding and harmony, said President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova in a greeting congratulating Turkish Language Day – December 21.
The President noted that Turkish Language Day marks the first time Turkish language education began in the country on December 21, 1944.
“Turkish Language Day embodies the right of all people to nurture their native tongue as a part of their national and cultural identity. The Turkish language and culture are a priceless part of the Macedonian multicultural wealth and a testimony of the centuries-long symbiosis and coexistence between the communities,” Siljanovska-Davkova said.
She stressed that language isn’t only a means for communication, but a driving force that shapes science, culture and the wisdom of nations.
