Mickoski: Local elections a continuation of reforms and development

Skopje, 2 November 2025 (MIA) - These local elections are a continuation of the process of reforms and development, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Sunday after casting his vote with his wife Rozi in the second round of local elections at the “Dimo Hadzi Dimov” primary school in Karposh municipality.

Mickoski wished a peaceful and successful election day, noting that the first round was among the most democratic and fair in Macedonia’s history. He thanked citizens who voted in the first round and those participating in the second.

He added that in these elections, there was a clear difference between the concepts offered by the political parties.

“The concept offered by the VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition is clear, as is the concept offered by our political opponents. I thank the citizens who turned out in the first round and overwhelmingly supported the coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE for mayors and municipal councilors,” Mickoski said.

He stressed that he expects the difference to remain clear and the victory to be strong after the second round as well.

“Citizens should take their future into their own hands and go out to vote in these local elections,” Mickoski said.

He also noted that the process of change and reform had already started and would continue in the years to come.

“For decades, matters affecting the country were ignored, while the prosperity of a few individuals was prioritized. I believe these local elections mark a continuation of Macedonia’s reform and development,” Mickoski said.

He urged citizens to go to the polls with dignity and vote democratically for the candidate they believe is the best choice.

In response to a journalist, Mickoski also spoke about the program of their candidate for Skopje mayor, Orce Gjorgjievski.

“I think we’ll see a dramatic difference in the first days, week, month, and year compared with any previous mayor. He is highly motivated and has my support, the government’s backing, and that of the majority of councilors in the City and municipal councils. I expect a major step forward,” Mickoski said.
