Pentagon chief Hegseth: Three dead in new US attack in the Caribbean

Washington, 7 November 2025 (dpa/MIA) - The US military has carried out another deadly strike on a boat allegedly carrying drugs in the Caribbean, killing three men, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said late on Thursday.
The attack took place in international waters, Hegseth said on the platform X.
"To all narco-terrorists who threaten our homeland: if you want to stay alive, stop trafficking drugs," he wrote. "If you keep trafficking deadly drugs - we will kill you."
US President Donald Trump's administration now refers to Hegseth as secretary of war, rather than defence secretary.
Since September, Trump's administration has authorized strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific on boats allegedly carrying narcotics to the US. The strikes are said to have killed dozens of people so far.
The actions have been widely criticized, partly because the Trump administration did not initially cite any legal basis for its actions.
UN human rights experts consider the attacks a violation of international law.
