No voting in four municipalities after election threshold wasn't met in October 19 first round

Skopje, 2 November 2025 (MIA) – No voting is organized in four municipalities on Sunday, including Gostivar, Vrapchishte, Centar Zhupa and Mavrovo and Rostushe, after election threshold wasn’t met in the first round on October 19. A new election procedure will take place within 60 days after the final results of the 2025 Local Elections are released.
According to the State Election Commission (SEC), the legal turnout of at least one third (33.33%) of the registered voters wasn’t met, which is a condition for the election to be considered successful. Turnout in Gostivar was 33.31%, in Vrapchishte – 25.18%, in Mavrovo and Rostushe – 30.31%, and in Centar Zhupa – 21,49%.
According to the Electoral Code, the entire election procedure is repeated and repeat elections will be held within 60 days as soon as the final results are released, without being conditioned again by the one-third threshold, as envisaged in Article 132-a.
In the meantime, voting takes place Sunday in 32 municipalities and the City of Skopje in the runoff of the 2025 Local Elections.
In the October 19 first round, mayors of 44 municipalities were elected.
