Moscow area attacked again by Ukrainian drones

Berlin, 1 November 2025 (dpa/MIA) - The Ukrainian military attacked the region around the Russian capital Moscow with combat drones again overnight.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin posted repeatedly throughout Friday night on Telegram saying individual drones had been shot down. It was the second such attack in a week.

On Friday evening, there was a large-scale power outage in Zhukovsky, south-east of Moscow, which the city administration explained was due to an automatic shutdown of the system.

The neighbouring district of Ramenskoye was also attacked.

The Ukrainian military intelligence service HUR claimed to have damaged the important oil pipeline ring around Moscow with drones. There was no Russian confirmation of this.

The Defence Ministry in Moscow reported on Saturday that a total of 98 Ukrainian drones had been shot down above Russian territory overnight.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Saturday that it had counted 223 Russian combat drones approaching its airspace during the night, 206 of which were shot down.

The radio station Suspilne reported that a fire had broken out at a gas processing plant in the central Ukrainian region of Poltava.
