Mickoski meets diaspora in New York, calls for strengthening cooperation in building Macedonia's future

Skopje, 13 July 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski met with the Macedonian diaspora in New York, the United States, where he attended an evening service in honor of Saints Peter and Paul in the Church of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in New York, as well as at a meeting organized by the Macedonians in the United States. 

Mickoski told participants in the meeting that the basic postulates of the new Government are accelerating progress in the European integration process, improving relations with neighboring countries and regional cooperation, increasing the country's credibility as NATO member, strengthening the strategic partnership with the United States and other western democracies, as well as stronger engagement in terms of attracting foreign investments, the Government said in a press release. 

"Internally, we will work with commitment to ensure all the necessary conditions for achieving faster economic development, we will provide strong support to domestic industry and agriculture, we will increase energy independence, we will wage an intensified fight against corruption and crime, we will reform the administration, we will advocate for greater independence and efficiency of the judiciary. At the same time, we will build a stable health system, higher quality education and raise the standard of pupils and students. We will provide greater support and investments in science, research and innovation, it is important to increase the level of environmental protection, to strengthen the pension fund and pay more attention to meeting the multitude of needs of young people," Mickoski pointed out. 

He said he wants to make Macedonia a modern state, in which we will build a common and prosperous future.

"I would like to thank all of you present here, as well as the members of the diaspora around the world's meridians, for everything you have done so far, constantly and worthily representing Macedonian history, culture, language and customs. We have no doubts about your willingness to continue helping us in the future, your loved ones and your relatives and friends back home," said Mickoski. 

He added that in order to overcome current and future difficulties and achieve the ambitious state goals, it will be necessary to increase mutual cooperation with the diaspora.

Mickoski called on members of the diaspora to work together and harder to improve communication, dialogue and joint activities.

"By helping each other and acting together, we will be able to realize the common vision much faster and more efficiently and make Macedonia a desirable and much better place to live in. You are our living and constant connection with the world, you are our best ambassadors who help us greatly in the promotion of the nation, language, culture, art, education and all other areas that we have not mentioned, but are still part of your daily thoughts and agenda," Mickoski said.
