Beirut/Tel Aviv, 2 May 2026 (dpa/MIA) – Twelve people have been killed and 25 others injured in Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, the Ministry of Health in Beirut said, state news agency NNA reported on Friday.
One of the victims was a child, the ministry said. The Israeli army did not initially comment on the incidents.
The Israeli military said on Telegram on Friday that Hezbollah launched "several explosive drones" towards its soldiers in southern Lebanon. It also said that it intercepted a rocket directed toward an area where Israeli soldiers are operating, also in southern Lebanon.
Media reports said four Israeli soldiers were slightly injured in southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
While ceasefire is technically in place, hostilities between and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon continue on a daily basis.
The conflict escalated again following the start of the war with Iran. The Lebanese army and the government in Beirut are not active parties to the conflict.
In light of the fragile ceasefire, the US is urging direct talks between Israel and Lebanon at the highest level. US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire in mid-April following talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
