Hamas hands over another body in the Gaza Strip

Tel Aviv, 14 November 2025 (dpa/MIA) - The Palestinian militant organization Hamas has handed over another body to staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Gaza Strip.

The remains are said to be of a hostage abducted from Israel, Hamas said on Thursday.

A forensic institute in Tel Aviv later confirmed that the body belongs to Meny Godard, a resident of Kibbutz Be'eri, according to statements from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

According to the Israeli military, Godard was killed at the age of 73 during the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023, and his body was reportedly taken to the Gaza Strip.

Following the handover, three dead hostages remain in the sealed-off coastal area, including a foreigner abducted from Israel.

Hamas announced on Thursday that it had found the body in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip on the same day.

Under the ceasefire agreement that Israel and Hamas reached in October, the Islamist group had to hand over all the remains of 28 murdered hostages to Israel. For each returned body, Israel in turn committed to transfer the remains of 15 people killed in the Gaza Strip to the authorities there.
