Skopje, 30 January 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the Government will accept any proposal for a minimum wage that employers and employees agree on in response to a question by SDSM MP Jovana Trenchevska at a Q&A session of Parliament on Thursday.
“The minimum wage will be set to whatever the employers and employees agree on. We are a party that can facilitate this process, observe it and support it once there is a solution. We will accept any solution they support. On Monday, there is an item on the agenda referring to the minimum wage and I hope employers and employees come to an agreement which we will support,” Mickoski said.
Trenchevska further quizzed the Prime Minister whether the Government would accept SDSM’s proposal to scrap the value added tax (VAT) on food products to reduce prices, and how the Government would solve the issue amid the calls for a boycott of supermarkets.
“It is a legitimate right for a citizens’ initiative to call for a boycott of markets, I understand it and see nothing wrong with it, it is legitimate for citizens to demonstrate their anger in a way they think they should,” Mickoski said.
