G7 ministers condemn China's support for Russia

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, 13 November 2025 (dpa/MIA) – Foreign ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) leading industrialized democracies on Wednesday criticized China's support for Russia.
The ministers condemned "the provision of weapons and dual-use components by China, a decisive enabler of Russia's war," in a joint statement following talks in Niagara-on-the-Lake, in Canada's south-eastern province of Ontario.
The G7 ministers also condemned North Korea and Iran for providing military support to Russia.
The G7 includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The group also "reaffirmed our unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity and right to exist, and its freedom, sovereignty, and independence," the statement said.
"We reiterated that an immediate ceasefire is urgently needed. We agreed that the current line of contact should be the starting point of negotiations. We remain committed to the principle that international borders must not be changed by force."
China's military build-up and "rapid increase of nuclear weapons arsenal" concerned the group, which also condemned North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
China has remained neutral in the war in Ukraine, but is considered a close and influential partner of Russia. Beijing has put forward proposals for resolving the war, which Kiev has rejected because they are mainly based on Moscow's demands.
