Fourth panel as part of Education Ministry's national campaign takes place in Kumanovo

Kumanovo, 16 November 2025 (MIA) – The fourth panel as part of the Education Ministry’s national campaign “Knowledge is Magic” took part Sunday in Kumanovo with the focus being on how the way knowledge is graded is changing and how teachers recognize the students’ progress and potential. The panel discussion highlighted the importance of teachers and their impact in shaping future generations.

According to, Elena Ivanovska, state secretary at the Ministry of Education and Science, the panel discussions aim at students realizing that the purpose of studying is to acquire skills, not to get good grades.

“As soon as the educational system starts producing students with competences, skills and knowledge, we’ll know that education has been producing the right value, which is competent teachers, students with critical thinking who are curious,” she said adding that a total of 67 million euros were invested in 2024 and 2025 to improve infrastructure.

Grades shouldn’t be considered as being the ultimate goal, instead, the educational system should produce skilled young people who will shape the future of our country, Ivanovska concluded.

The Municipality of Kumanovo has been investing in improving school infrastructure. Half of the schools in the municipality have been reconstructed both in urban and rural areas. “We’re continuing in the coming period. We’re waiting for the next call by the Education Ministry because capital investments are implemented through the Ministry according to the law,” said Aleksandar Jovanovikj, head of the municipal education sector.

There are nearly 1,700 teachers in Kumanovo.

“Success cannot be measured by grades but by acquired skills for which not only students but also teachers and parents are responsible. The teachers organize classes while it’s the students' job to work hard, not to give up, not to be disappointed by failures but to make progress according to their own tempo," said Hilda Dimitrievska, elementary school teacher.

Panels as part of the Education Ministry’s national campaign were already organized in Skopje, Prilep and Tetovo.
