Filkov: Only an independent and impartial judiciary can ensure equal justice for all

Skopje, 31 March 2025 (MIA) – Judicial independence is the cornerstone of the rule of law and a guarantee for justice. Without an independent judiciary, justice becomes unattainable, and public trust is undermined. The judiciary must have the capacity and expertise to build an efficient, transparent and accountable system that ensures justice for all. Only through independent and impartial trials can we create a society where laws apply equally to everyone, stated Justice Minister Igor Filkov in his message Monday on the occasion of March 31, Macedonian Judiciary Day.

As Filkov noted, the rule of law must not be merely a declarative commitment but a reality in every courtroom and institution, ensuring justice and accountability.

According to the minister, the judiciary must have the capacity and expertise to build an efficient, transparent, and accountable system that guarantees justice for all.

“The integrity and expertise of judges, public prosecutors, legal representatives, holders of public authority, lawyers, mediators, notaries, enforcement agents, court officials and advisors, judicial police, and all court employees are essential for swift, efficient, and fair justice,” Filkov said.
