Daylight saving time begins

Daylight saving time begins

Skopje, 29 March 2025 (MIA) - Daylight saving time begins in the early hours of Sunday at 2:00 am when the clocks will move forward one hour and it will be 3:00 am and instead of 2:00 am.

Daylight saving time in the country, as in most of Europe, is implemented twice a year - on the last weekend in March when daylight saving time begins and the last weekend in October when winter time begins.

This year, daylight saving time will last until October 26 at 3:00 am

The decision to introduce daylight saving time is in accordance with the Law on Time Savings ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia" No. 17/96 and 16/97) and in accordance with European directives.

In addition to the country, daylight saving time will also be applied by most European countries, except for Russia, Turkey, Belarus and Iceland. In addition to Europe, the seasonal change of time is also applied in most countries of North and Central America, as well as in several other countries around the world.

On March 4, 2019, the European Parliament voted to abolish the seasonal change of time starting from 2021. However, the Council of the EU is yet to make a final decision, so it is not entirely certain when the clocks will be changed for the last time. No daylight saving time is applied in Japan, China, South Korea, nor in countries on the African continent.
