Buenos Aires, 24 April 2026 (dpa/MIA) - The government of Argentinian President Javier Milei on Thursday barred journalists from accessing the presidential palace, the Casa Rosada.
Communications and Press Secretary Javier Lanari said the decision was based on a complaint from the body responsible for the security of the president and government house.
"The decision to remove the fingerprints of journalists accredited to the Casa Rosada was taken as a preventive measure following the Casa Militar's complaint of illegal espionage," he wrote on X.
"The sole purpose is to ensure national security," Lanari added.
Around 60 reporters will no longer be allowed to work in the government building for the time being.
The complaint is believed to be related to two television journalists filming in unauthorized areas of the palace.
Milei took to X to call the journalists "repugnant trash" and challenged other members of the media to justify their actions.
