Skopje, 26 January 2026 (MIA) - President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova delivered online remarks at the opening of the 6th Winter School of the International Seminar of Macedonian Language, Literature and Culture (ISMLLC) within University Ss.Cyril and Methodius-Skopje, held under her auspices.
Siljanovska Davkova said the Winter School is a continuation of the long-standing academic and cultural tradition of the Macedonian studies, noting it is a vibrant academic debate on the Macedonian language as the foundation of identity, memory and cultural self-awareness, the President's Office said in a press release.
According to her, in an era of accelerated change, in which languages face new challenges, the Macedonian language must be functional and visible in the digital world, "staying alive for future generations, both at home and in the diaspora".
The President added that the Winter School is an investment in the future of the Macedonian language, as well as the future of Macedonian science as a global academic network.
"As a successful example of educational and scientific diplomacy, this School contributes to the dialogue among nations and the mutual identity understanding and recognition amid global challenges," said Siljanovska Davkova.
