Skopje, 26 January 2026 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski and the British Ambassador, Matthew Lawson, signed Monday the Protocol on Rules of Origin, considered an integral part of the Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Kingdom.
The Protocol on Rules of Origin, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in a press release, allows practical and legal implementation of the extended cumulation with materials originating from the EU, EFTA countries as well as other countries covered under the PEM Convention, with which the two countries implement preferential trade.

Extended cumulation of origin opens better access to the UK market for Macedonian exporters, which is especially important for sectors with complex value chains and EU-linked inputs, said the press release.
“The signing of this Protocol creates conditions for higher exports, new jobs and a stronger economy by better positioning the Macedonian economy in one of the most important European markets,” it stated.
