Siljanovska Davkova: People on the autism spectrum teach us about honesty, patience, different modalities of expression and interaction

Skopje, 2 April 2026 (MIA) - World Autism Awareness Day reminds us that behind every diagnosis are people with unique abilities and families who invest love, effort, and devotion in their development every day, President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said on the occasion of April 2 - World Autism Awareness Day.

The President pointed out that autism is a complex and heterogeneous spectrum of experiences that expands our perception of human diversity.

"For me, numerous individuals within this spectrum are an inspiring example that diversity can be a source of exceptional intellectual contribution. People on the autism spectrum teach us about honesty, patience, and different modalities of expression and interaction. Support for them must not be symbolic, but articulated as a systemic and continuous commitment, through the provision of accessible services, professional support, and inclusive policies that enable their participation and development," President Siljanovska Davkova said in a Facebook post.

Inclusion, she noted, is not an abstract ideal, but a measure of a society's maturity.

"It is built through understanding, responsibility and active commitment to creating an environment in which diversity is not marginalized, but rather recognized and valued," said Siljanovska Davkova.
