Tel Aviv/Washington, 30 March 2026 (dpa/MIA) - The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it begun striking targets in Tehran early on Monday.

"The IDF is currently striking Iranian terror regime military infrastructure across Tehran, the military said in a post on Telegram without providing further details.

About 30 minutes later, the IDF said it had "identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel."

"Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat."

Earlier, President Donald Trump said the US military had also struck and destroyed several key targets in Iran, describing it as a "big day" and praising US forces as "the finest and most lethal in the World" in a post on Truth Social.

Trump said "many long sought after targets" had been eliminated but gave no further details.

Israel and the United States began joint military operations against Iran at the end of February.
