Gashi takes part in Washington panel on regional integration; country highlighted as factor of stability

Washington, 6 February 2026 (MIA) — The Republic of North Macedonia's significant role as a factor of stability in the region was highlighted Friday at an Atlantic Council panel discussion on the region's economic integration into Southeast Europe that Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi, on a working visit to Washington, took part in.


According to a press release from Parliament, panelists also highlighted the importance of infrastructure projects and deeper cooperation between the Western Balkan countries. According to them, regional integration is a key prerequisite for sustainable development and progress toward the European Union.

 


As part of his visit to the US, Gashi also met with Max Primorac, Senior Research Fellow in the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at The Heritage Foundation. They discussed the importance of strong institutions, the values ​​of freedom and the role of the transatlantic partnership for peace and stability in the Western Balkans.


"Open and constructive dialogue with our American partners is essential for promoting democratic values ​​and strengthening regional stability," Gashi is quoted as saying in the release. mr/
