Skopje, 8 March 2026 (MIA) - The traditional International Women’s Day march in Skopje opened with a minute of silence and calls for justice. Organized by several citizen initiatives and associations, the march began at noon from Woman Fighter Park and proceeded to the City Park and the Vera Jocikj monument.

The march’s slogan, “We Will Not Be Erased,” organizers say, expresses women’s unwavering and necessary struggle to survive in a system and society that threatens their safety, fails to protect them from abusers, forgets them, sidelines them, and erases them.

Participants in the march stressed that holiday greetings are not enough if work is not simultaneously done to eradicate gender-based violence, economic inequality and systemic discrimination.

The march is held in honor of the fight for women’s rights and the historical tradition of March 8, symbolizing solidarity and resistance in the struggle for equality and a dignified life.
