Skopje, 6 December 2025 (MIA) — Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski announced on Facebook that he had received a text message from the Safe City system issuing him a fine for a traffic violation he made by driving 1 km/h over the speed limit on his way to Kavadarci earlier Saturday.

"This is the best illustration of a functional state," he wrote, pointing out that no matter who made a traffic violation, they would be fined.

"This is how trust is built, this is how security is built. The goal of 'Safe City' is not to punish, but to instill order and discipline and save human lives," he wrote.

"Given the alarming number of traffic casualties, we must set an example of personal responsibility. This country will be safer only when the laws apply equally to everyone, including those of us who are most responsible for their implementation," Toshkovski wrote. mr/
