Skopje, 22 December 2025 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met with Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali, who is paying an official visit to the country on Monday. 

Gashi pointed out that the two countries build excellent bilateral relations, with intensive political dialogue and cooperation in a significant number of areas of mutual interest. He expressed satisfaction with Albania's progress in the European Union accession process and the opening all clusters in accordance with the new EU methodology, the Parliament said in a press release. 

"Spiropali stressed that although Albania is already negotiating membership in the European Union, she believes that the other Western Balkan countries should follow suit and the enlargement process should continue because it brings a great transformation in all societies of the countries in the region. Albania will continue to support North Macedonia in the European processes until all difficulties along the European path are finally overcome," reads the press release. 

Interlocutors agreed that EU membership brings substantial benefits to the citizens of the Western Balkan countries, because the process is reform-oriented and it is necessary to implement reforms at home, including the fight against corruption and reforms in the judiciary.
