Skopje, 17 March 2025 (MIA) - European Union Ambassador Michalis Rokas said Monday the EU is here to support North Macedonia after the Kochani tragedy, which claimed 59 lives and injured 155.
"Let me extend my condolences to all people of this wonderful nation who is now grieving. We are here as your partners to provide assistance. We have activated the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and I am pleased to see many member-states offering help, and we will continue to do this," said Ambassador Rokas after signing the book of mourning in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
Swedish Ambassador Ami Larsson Jain, who also signed the book of condolences, said it is important to show support to North Macedonia in these difficult moments.
"Our hearts are broken for the many lives lost and the injured. North Macedonia sent its request for support through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and we are already working with the Union on finding ways to provide support. Swedish authorities are part of this assistance and we are finding the best avenue of support," said Ambassador Larsson Jain.
