Gevgelija, 22 April 2025 (MIA) — An exhibition of pencil portraits drawn by renowned Macedonian painter Rodoljub Anastasov between 2016 and 2022 will open Tuesday evening at Gevgelija's Amam art gallery. "This series of drawings is a turning point for the artist," organizers said.
The small pencil and colored pencil drawings "show us a completely different Anastasov, one that we would not expect given his decades-long complete dedication to his favorite cycle 'Man and Space,' which brought him international fame," according to organizers.
The artist drew the portraits from memory, they add. "It is a rationally conceived art project, although it arose from dramatic events and situations in the artist's life that happened in 2008."
The exhibit was curated by Jasminka Namicheva as a Museum Link collaboration between Arhifakt association and the Gevgelija National Museum.
Titled "Visions: A Head Full of People," the art display is part of Gevgelija City of Culture 2025 series of cultural happenings. mr/
