Skopje, 25 November 2025 (MIA) - Spain is an important partner in NATO, the United Nations, and OSCE, as well as a principled supporter of the Macedonian aspirations for membership in the European Union, said President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova at a meeting Tuesday with a delegation from the Spanish Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
The President welcomed the visit, assessing it as a turnaround in Spanish-Macedonian relations through a renewal and intensification of interparliamentary cooperation.

Siljanovska-Davkova pointed to the need to establish a joint friendship group in the Spanish Senate and Congress. She also spoke of an insufficiently utilized potential for economic cooperation that could be regulated with a bilateral agreement.
At the meeting, the President presented the national positions on the EU integration process, reaffirming the country’s commitment to fulfilling the Copenhagen criteria.

The representatives of the Spanish Senate expressed their gratitude for the conversation and voiced a readiness to further enhance cooperation and support in the EU integration process.
