Parliament holds 72nd session, to elect new anti-corruption commission head
- Parliament is set to hold its 72nd plenary session Wednesday, with several draft decisions on the agenda, including the one for electing a president of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption. The current secretary general of the Commission, Adem Chuchulj, has been nominated for the post.
Skopje, 3 December 2025 (MIA) - Parliament is set to hold its 72nd plenary session Wednesday, with several draft decisions on the agenda, including the one for electing a president of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption. The current secretary general of the Commission, Adem Chuchulj, has been nominated for the post.
The agenda also includes two motions to set up an inquiry committee into circumstances of the actions of institutions regarding the tragedies and accidents in the country. One motion, submitted by the ruling majority, covers the tragedies in Kochani nightclub fire, the Tetovo modular hospital fire, the "Durmo Tours" bus crash in Laskarci, and the "Besa Trans" bus accident in Bulgaria. The other, submitted by Levica, SDSM and DUI, proposes forming an inquiry committee on the tragedy in Kochani nightclub fire.
This session will also consider proposals for appointing members to the National Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as draft decisions to issue public calls for selecting members of the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination and for appointing the director and deputy director of the Agency for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information.
The MPs will also decide on several laws in second reading, including the draft law ratifying the Defence Cooperation Agreement with France; the supplemented amendments to the Law on the Rights of Communities Under 20% of the Population; the amendments to the Audio and Audiovisual Media Services Law; the amendments to the VAT Law and a draft law to convert state claims into permanent equity in the public enterprise managing state-owned sports facilities in Skopje.
The agenda also includes the 2026–2030 medium-term commodity reserves programme and fast-tracked amendments to the Electoral Code.
Several laws are to be adopted under a shortened procedure, including amendments to the Construction Law, the Law on Financial Support for Investments, the Secondary Education Law, and the Primary Education Law.
