NSA announces introduction of polygraph test sessions in bid to establish trust and professionalism

Skopje, 14 February 2025 (MIA) – The National Security Agency (NSA) said Friday it will introduce polygraph test sessions, considered a mandatory step in the process of selecting people to employ, in checking the professional integrity of the staff, undergoing security checks under NSA’s jurisdiction and in all other cases in line with the law on the National Security Agency.

The introduction of polygraph test sessions is regulated following NSA’s establishment in 2019. Since it wasn’t implemented in the past five years, it was met with public backlash.

“The head of the National Security Agency in public appearances has pledged that a period of meeting the legal obligation follows in order to meet the highest standards of integrity, trust and professionalism,” said the NSA in a press release.

The National Security Agency treats highly confidential information, it added.

“Introducing polygraph test sessions is considered a crucial step in building trust, advancing security practices and standards and creating an environment in which integrity and professionalism will be the basic principles of the National Security Agency,” it concluded.
