North Macedonia and Hungary sign action plan for expert exchange by Hungarian Diplomatic Academy

Budapest, 3 March 2025 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, signed an Action Plan on exchange of expertise by the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy on mutually agreed EU integration topics, administration processes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Budapest on Monday.

The meeting between Mucunski and Szijjártó marks the beginning of within the Hungarian – Macedonian government summit taking place March 3-4 in Hungary.

The Macedonian government delegation, led by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, includes 10 ministers and two deputy ministers.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski, expressed gratitude for Hungary’s support on North Macedonia’s path to the EU, as well as partnership within NATO, as reported by MIA’s Budapest correspondent.

Szijjártó, on the other hand, underscored that the signing of the document serves as a good introduction for intergovernmental session, announcing intensifying of the cooperation.

During the press conference, Szijjártó also referred to developments related to the war in Ukraine, noting that, thanks to changes on the other side of the Atlantic, shifts are possible.

"Macedonians and Hungarians are equally interested in restoring peace. This was demonstrated last week at the UN," Szijjártó said.

Regarding Ukraine, Mucunski stated that the country firmly supports the unconditional and swiftest possible achievement of peace and global security. He recalled that, together with Hungary, they co-sponsored a Resolution for peace in Ukraine last week.

According to the agenda, a tête-à-tête meeting between the two prime ministers is planned, along with bilateral meetings between the respective ministers of both governments, followed by a joint government session on Tuesday.
