Necessary to have laws and mechanisms in place that protect and support women's rights: EU Ambassador
- It is necessary to have laws and mechanisms in place that protect and support women's rights, including those with disabilities.

Skopje, 3 March 2025 (MIA) - It is necessary to have laws and mechanisms in place that protect and support women's rights, including those with disabilities. The European Union will continue to work together with the authorities, civil society and local communities in North Macedonia to make sure that no woman or girl is left without having equal opportunities, European Union Ambassador Michalis Rokas told national conference "Stronger Together" on Monday, organized by the Veles association of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
Ambassador Rokas said building a more inclusive society requires a broad range of activities - investments in infrastructure, equal access to education, healthcare, employment, social services, up to empowering women to be part of the decision-making processes at all levels.
"This requires our collective attention and action to not leave anyone behind. In the European Union, we are fully committed to promoting gender equality and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities," said Rokas.
According to him, building a more inclusive society requires working with the Government and supporting NGOs.
"By supporting these efforts, we will help promote gender equality and give women with disabilities and women from rural areas the recognition, the resources and the opportunities they deserve," underlined Rokas.
