Skopje, 28 January 2026 (MIA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski met Wednesday with the Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia and Minister of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, discussing the issue in the transport sector and the promotion of bilateral cooperation.
“The issue with the transporters and the new electronic entry/exit system in Schengen countries is a serious one, affecting the entire transport sector across the Western Balkans, as well as EU companies that have invested in the region and rely on exports to European markets. I asked the Croatian Government for strong support in finding an appropriate solution at the EU level, one that would make operations easier for both Macedonian and regional transporters,” Nikoloski wrote in a post on his official Facebook profile after the meeting.

According to Nikoloski, the two ministers also discussed cooperation in transport, placing a special emphasis on rail transport.
“We spoke about boosting economic and trade cooperation between the two countries by placing the focus on infrastructure projects. Croatia is providing strong support to Macedonia in its Euro-integration processes,” Nikoloski wrote.
