Names of new Vlen ministers to be revealed next week, no plans for new coalition partner

Skopje, 20 November 2025 (MIA) – The government is not considering a new coalition partner and expects support from everyone in Parliament for the reform laws, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday responding to reporters’ questions following his visit to the University Clinic for Surgical Diseases ‘St. Naum Ohridski’ in Skopje.

Prime Minister Mickoski said he sees no reason why MPs in Parliament would oppose reform laws, emphasizing that there should be no political blackmail.

“Honestly, I don’t understand why anyone would oppose something that is reform-oriented and good. Aren’t we all for Europe? Then we should all back a reform law supported by the European Commission. If the government majority were to pass anti-European, anti-reform, or ethnocentric laws, I could understand that argument, and that is why the Badinter mechanism exists, to prevent such behavior. But this government acts in a cosmopolitan way and aims to be a government for all citizens. So, if a reform law endorsed by the Venice Commission and the European Commission comes before Parliament, I see no reason why MPs, who constantly speak about wanting to be European, wouldn’t support it,” Mickoski said.

In regard to the question whether the Alliance for Albanians will join the government, he said there are no such plans, noting that the current government holds a historically strong two-thirds majority in Parliament.

Prime Minister Mickoski said that the names of the new Vlen ministers will be revealed at the beginning of next week.

"Everything will be clear by early next week. We will submit them then,” Mickoski said, stressing that they have an activity plan, which they plan to carry out internally within the party and then with the institutions, step by step.

Regarding the appointment of administrators in municipalities where mayors weren’t elected at the 2025 local elections since the turnout threshold wasn’t met, Mickoski said the decisions will be announced on Tuesday at the government session.
