Skopje, 24 November 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources has introduced a modern digital system and a specialized drone to oversee and monitor concessions for mineral resources, solar energy and wind installations.

According to officials, the new technology enables accurate tracking of mineral resource exploitation, as well as verification of the exact locations and infrastructure of solar panels and wind park measurement towers. Through this initiative, the Ministry enhances transparency and promotes the responsible utilization of natural resources.

According to the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, the new system enhances inspection supervision, permitting the inspectors to carry out assessments without the need for constant physical presence on site. The drone ensures quicker responses, shorter inspection periods and uninterrupted monitoring of field operations, allowing for more precise oversight of concessionaires and greatly reducing the risk of misuse.

“By introducing the digital system and drone, we’re boosting inspection control and enabling modern, efficient monitoring so concessions are used responsibly and lawfully,” Energy Minister Sanja Bozhinovska said.

Employees at the Ministry who will operate the drone have completed specialized training on its use and on the proper interpretation of data obtained through remote monitoring. This ensures professional, precise and modern oversight, aligned with the highest standards.

The use of drones is already part of the standard practice in developed countries, particularly mapping, inspection oversight and monitoring of energy and natural resources. With this innovation, the Ministry is following global practice and advancing modernization and efficiency in resource management.
