Skopje, 15 October 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski had a working breakfast Tuesday with representatives of the German Chamber of Commerce in Berlin, during which he spoke about the government's priorities for investing in road infrastructure, the construction of key corridors, and energy investments.

“Germany is our largest trading partner, and we remain committed to utilizing the potential to enhance the lives of all our citizens. We need to make significant progress so that the people can experience improvement after years of devastation in the country,” Prime Minister Mickoski wrote on Facebook.

As part of his visit to Berlin, he addressed the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) late Monday.

“I spoke about our goals and our fight to stabilize the country. We inherited a government that took the country out of the hands of the people. In these 100 days since the new government took office, we have been working with full dedication to ensure decency and create new opportunities. We are making efforts to unblock the stalled European integration process by seeking a solution that offers a fair basis for trust-building. The EU should not remain a closed club, but rather an inclusive community of prosperity and opportunities,” Mickoski said.

Today marks the second day of the visit to Germany, following Prime Minister Mickoski's meetings yesterday with prime ministers and political leaders involved in the Berlin Process. Together with the other prime ministers from the Western Balkan countries participating in the Berlin Process, he signed the Common Regional Market Action Plan 2025-2028.

Mickoski met on Monday with the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, after which he stated that Germany’s support for the country’s European integration has been reaffirmed.

The government delegation headed by PM Mickoski in Berlin also includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, and Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani.

Minister Mucunski will meet on Tuesday with the German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock, followed by a joint statement to the media, the government said in a press release.

He is also scheduled to meet with representatives from the leadership of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Germany.
