Mickoski: No room for improvisation, cases that were covered up in the past should be reopened

Skopje, 7 April 2025 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Monday he stands ready to meet with the leaders of other opposition parties represented in Parliament to discuss the reform agenda after meeting last week with the leader of the country’s largest opposition party, Venko Filipche.
“We’re waiting for SDSM to propose names in two sectors, rule of law and energy – the two topics for which Venko Filipche said his party wants to take part in the preparation of reform laws, because they are essentially part of the reform agenda. When will I receive them, you should ask them,” Mickoski said responding to a reporter’s question in Monday’s news conference.
Mentioning that Filipche had requested a meeting with him, Mickoski said he is prepared to meet with other opposition leaders as well to discuss the reform agenda because it is “a joint project”.
Congratulating Filipche on being re-elected as SDSM leader, the PM fell short of commenting on his remarks that the government has done nothing in the past 10 months since coming to power.
Asked why he had discussed the cases “Besa Trans”, “Modular Hospital” and “Laskarci” with Filipche, Mickoski said they need to be reopened after seemingly being “covered up.”
“Talking about unbiased investigation and accountability, we will need to reopen all the cases that were somewhat covered up in the past. If we truly want a reset, it has to be done in all levels,” he told reporters.
The PM pinpointed the initiative in Parliament on the formation of an inquiry committee to look into the cases “Besa Trans”, “Modular Hospital” and “Laskarci” in addition to the deadly fire in a nightclub in Kochani last month, which killed 60 people.
Mickoski confirmed that there is political will to reopen and close the three cases.
“There is no longer room for improvisation, they have to be cleared up, otherwise there can be no progress,” insisted PM Mickoski.
