Skopje, 23 January 2025 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski does not expect any changes in the Government before the local elections this year. As he emphasized in an interview for the MRT news, he is satisfied with how the Government has been functioning, considering the challenges they inherited and faced.
"It can always be better. I try to inspire my colleagues in the Government with my work, and I will continue in that direction. I don't expect any changes in the Government until the local elections, and then we have the local elections, followed by the regular party Congress of VMRO-DPMNE. Perhaps any changes or refreshment within the Government could happen at the beginning of next year, but it will depend on many inputs before we make such a decision. I think that by then, many things will be clearer, both politically and regarding the performance of government members," Mickoski said.
What is certain, he noted, is that starting from January 1, 2026, there will be a major and more comprehensive structural change within the structure of VMRO-DPMNE as a political party, as slowly but surely, part of the generations need to be replaced.
“If I gain the support of the delegates, according to the party's Statute, after the next congress, this will be my final mandate as president of VMRO-DPMNE, and after that, by the end of the year, VMRO-DPMNE will elect a new president,” Mickoski said.
