Mickoski: Let’s change our perception, talk less about manipulative topics, lead policies that will bring people back home

Skopje, 9 December 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told journalists Tuesday the perception in the country needs to change and that there should be more talk about positive topics and policies which, he said, will bring people back to the country, as opposed to “manipulative topics fabricated by the dregs of society”.
“It is logical that the dregs of society, articulated by several opposition parties, create such pressure on people that they immediately feel stressed and say we should move as far away from here as possible. Instead of that, we should be leading policies with which we will bring our people back. For example, a few days ago the air in Skopje was cleaner than the air in Belgrade, in Sarajevo, in Pristina, in Ljubljana, in Zagreb, and even in Vienna. Why did no one mention that? Let’s talk about nice things. Let’s change our perception a bit. Let’s start winning, instead of losing. Why shouldn’t we be proud that the air in Skopje at 2 PM on Sunday was cleaner than the air in Vienna? No one talks about that,” Mickoski said in answer to media questions in front of the Parliament.
The Prime Minister said that is the topic he wants to talk about, as well as the 3.8 percent GDP growth.
“In the past, there were articles about our northern neighbor recording three times higher GDP growth than ours. Now ours is twice as high as theirs. Why is no one saying this? Why is no one saying that inflation has been reduced by 0.5 percent today, and we are moving to what we’ve been talking about, under four percent so we can consolidate between two and three percent next year? Please let us talk about nice things. The holidays are coming, people want to talk about nice things, not about fabricated topics. If there was anything true or real in the manipulations with the migrants or something similar, I would be the first to say so. But for as long as I am Prime Minister such a thing will not happen,” Mickoski said.
