Mickoski: Good to have neighbors with a stable political government

Skopje, 7 January 2025 (MIA) - Quizzed by journalists Tuesday about the government coalition talks in Bulgaria, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said he wouldn’t like to “comment and meddle” in the internal affairs of a foreign country but stressed it would be good for Sofia to have a stable, political government.

“It is good to have neighbors with a stable political government. If that’s the situation there, I wouldn’t like to comment and meddle in the internal affairs of a foreign country, just as I don’t want anyone to meddle in the internal affairs of my country. I hope they will be able to overcome their differences and create a political government,” Mickoski said in answer to a journalist’s question after attending the Christmas liturgy at Skopje’s St. Clement of Ohrid church.

Coalition negotiations between four Bulgarian political parties seemed close to a final agreement on a stable government, before they were ended by former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov’s party GERB on Sunday due to disagreements with one of the parties over who should be the country’s next prime minister.
