Berlin, 25 October 2024 (dpa/MIA) - Roberto Mancini has left the position of Saudi Arabia national team coach by mutual consent after little over one year, the Saudia Arabian FA said on Thursday in a post on X.

Mancini arrived in the kingdom in August 2023 amid big criticism in his native Italy where he had stepped down as national team coach a few weeks earlier.

His Saudi Arabia contract was reportedly until 2027 but the team went out in the last 16 at this year's Asian Cup, and is only third with one win from four matches in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group.

Mancini led Italy to the Euro 2020 title, coached Inter Milan to three Serie A titles, and Manchester City to the 2013 Premier League trophy from Sergio Aguero's stoppage-time winner against Queens Park Rangers on the final matchday.
