Varazdin, 23 January 2025 (MIA) - The Macedonian handball team secured a 39:34 victory over Qatar (halftime 21:17) on Thursday in the second round of Group 2 in the Main Round of the 2025 IHF Men's Handball World Championship.

The top scorers for the Macedonian team were Filip Kuzmanovski and Zharko Peshevski with six goals each, while Marko Mitev and Nikola Kosteski scored five each.

With this victory, their second in the World Championship, Kiril Lazarov's team kept their theoretical chances of advancing to the quarterfinals.

Main round, Group 2:

1.  France - 6 points

2.  Netherlands – 4 points

3.  Macedonia – 4 points

4.  Hungary – 3 points

5.  Austria – 3 points

6.  Qatar – 0 points 

The top two teams will qualify for the quarterfinals, with the remaining teams being ranked in relation to the standings in the other three groups.
