New York, 25 March 2024 (dpa/MIA) - Italy defeated Ecuador 2-0 on Sunday, the second consecutive win during their US trip in preparation of Euro 2024.

Lorenzo Pellegrini scored in the third minute, while Nicolo Barella doubled in stoppage time, in the friendly contested in Harrison, New Jersey.

On Wednesday, the Azzurri had defeated Venezuela 2-1 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"We have contested two competitive friendlies which have allowed us to continue on our path to reach the European championship as a big family," Pellegrini told Italian broadcaster Rai after the Ecuador game.

Title holders Italy face Spain and Croatia in what is arguably the toughest Euro 2024 group. Their campaign will start on June 15 against Albania.
