Washington, 6 November 2024 (dpa/MIA) - Vice President Kamala Harris has conceded defeat in the US presidential election in a call to her Republican rival Donald Trump, according to US media reports.
In the phone call, Harris congratulated the former president on his election victory and addressed the importance of a peaceful handover of power, CNN, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times reported, citing her team.
Harris is scheduled to address her supporters in public at 4 pm (2100 GMT) for the first time following her resounding defeat in Tuesday's presidential election.
Trump secured victory after carrying the swing states of North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin early on Wednesday, with Michigan also later being projected as a Trump win.
