Skopje, 4 October 2023 (MIA) — Gender equality activists, scholars, researchers and policy makers from the region will gather at The New Gen(D)eration first regional summit in Skopje on Sept. 4–5 to discuss strategies for achieving gender equality and social change.

According to organizers, the aim of the summit is "to explore and address the challenges civil society faces in dealing with these issues as well as to promote gender democracy, women's rights and LGBTIQ+ persons' rights."

Panel discussions will focus on responding to the rise of anti-gender movements, on dismantling ideologies of violence, and on feminist institutions, organizers said.

The keynote speakers on each of the three topics are Slovenian sociologist Roman Kuhar; writer, feminist activist and scholar Adriana Zaharijevic; and visual art and culture theorist and researcher Suzana Milevska.

The summit is organized by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Sarajevo in cooperation with MARGINI Coalition Skopje with the support of Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation. mr/
